This is a dining facility located on Fort Meade. Unlike some of the other dining facilities I've experienced, the food items here are ala carte and not by the meal. This is a cash only establishment that does not currently have the ability to accept credit cards for payment. I dislike that whenever I ask for whole egg omelets, I get the speech about liquid eggs are for omelets. Each time I suppress what I really want to say and come to terms that if it's not whole eggs for my omelet it'll be no eggs. I am however able to satisfy my quota for grits. They do a good job as not everyone is capable of making grits. There is a rotating menu so that you'll know what the lunch and dinner options being offered are. Clean bathrooms, and the eating areas are well lit and maintained. There is no busing service here. When you're done with your meal you remove your tray and other debris and place it in a caddy they have to collect trays on the way to the scullery. Good location to do meetings and working lunches. If your time doesn't support you staying, they offer carry out containers.
Great breakfast, and above-average quality for cafeteria food. It seems as though they are held to higher standards with regard to food preparation rules. Also it's worth noting that at 5 Hats, there is indeed a dress code: dining in dirty exercise clothes is against the posted rules. Separately, being located so close to military facilities I was disappointed that they don't offer a military discount.
Omelets cooked to order and for $3 you can have a huge meal. Lunch has different themes on certain days from German to Asian on the main line. Or choose from the healthy stuff from the grill! Friendly staff and always a warm meal for the cheap eats.
My go to place for lunch doing the work week. What can I say, it is literally a 2 minute walk away. The food is good, especially considering the price. I usually get a fresh salad from the salad bar, and a two pieces of grilled chicken. Pretty boring but you know trying to watch my girlish figure haha Plenty of space for everyone and the like I said before, it is inexpensive, under 4 bucks for all my food. I love being in the military, especially when inexpensive food is involved.

If you have been to any Air Force galley excuse me dining facility them you know how it operates a la carte for all items. No matter what people are going to always complain about something. Compared to outside at any restaurant you choose to eat at the prices at Five Hats will always be cheaper and the quantity is not bad. You can get a full breakfast meal for around $4.50 and the choice is completely yours on how healthy or unhealthy you want to make it. As for lunch and dinner the prices are a bit higher but not by much and the a la carte still applies. This choice is done easily with the green, yellow, and red cards to represent healthy, not all that great, and buy a new pair of pants respectively. If you are color blind then I guess you are out of luck. It's not the same menu everyday so if you have a favorite item check the menu or just take a walk and do some window shopping to see if this place will get your cash. Other than that the food is pretty good and at a more than reasonable price.
